Redragon K673 Pro

My Review of the Redragon K673 Pro Keyboard

I recently switched my gear up and gave the Redragon Ucal K673 Pro a try. This keyboard is a compact 65% layout with 81 keys (Linear Red Switch) and offers the flexibility of both wired and wireless connections. Even though I’m a PC enthusiast, I haven’t really focused much on keyboards because they tend to last a long time without any issues. Previously, I used the Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2016, which served me well for both work and gaming.

However, I’ve now moved on to the Redragon Ucal K673 Pro. The switch was mostly sparked by my curiosity to try something new. It’s been a good decision for gaming and daily tasks, and so far, I’m enjoying the change! Letting go of my old Razer keyboard wasn’t easy, but sometimes a little change is good! 🙂

Redragon K673 Pro Overview

The Redragon Ucal K673 Pro is a compact wireless gaming keyboard with 81 keys and a gasket design. It has a premium, sturdy build and feels heavier than it looks. The keyboard comes with Tri-Mode technology, which allows you to connect it using a wired USB-C connection or wirelessly through a 2.4GHz connection or Bluetooth. The mixed-color keycaps give the keyboard a unique and refreshing appearance. Also, the keyboard features a 3.5mm silencing foam and a silencing silicone pad, making it very quiet to type on.

Quiet Typing Experience

The K673 Pro is super quiet to type on, offering a crisp and soft typing experience that I absolutely love. It features two 3.5mm noise-reducing foam layers between the PCB and silicone gasket, which make a significant difference. I never thought I’d enjoy quiet typing so much, especially since I switched from the Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2016. That keyboard had a loud clicky sound that I also liked, but the change is definitely noticeable and appreciated.

Connectivity and Build Quality

If you’re looking for a more organized desktop and don’t need the numpad, here’s some good news. This keyboard is only 65% the size of a standard one, letting you easily declutter your space and make room for other PC accessories.

It features a Tri-mode connection that includes 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB-C cable for low battery situations. This means you can charge it while using it without worrying about finding extra batteries, unlike AA/AAA battery powered wireless keyboards.

I’m particularly fond of the 81-key layout in this compact size; it’s great for moving around. The tri-mode functionality also enhances its portability, allowing me to easily pack it and work from a cafe when I need a change of scenery (since I mostly work from home). Moreover, the K673 Pro is well-built and has a satisfying weight to it – it doesn’t feel cheap or overly light.

Customization and Design

The Redragon K673 Pro keyboard features its own software, allowing you to customize new modes and effects. You can also configure shortcuts and macros with different keybindings for both work and gaming. The software is user-friendly and easy to navigate.

Additionally, the keyboard has a unique battery indicator (3000mAh battery). By pressing the Alt + FN buttons, the numbers 1-0 will light up to display the remaining battery percentage. For example, if numbers 1-9 illuminate, it indicates that there’s 90% battery left, while 1-3 means there’s 30% left. Although I might not be up-to-date with all the latest keyboard innovations, I find this battery indicator design incredibly intuitive.

The keyboard also features a mixed keycap design and RGB lighting, adding a splash of color to your desktop setup. Plus, it includes two keyboard risers, providing two angle options for an optimal typing experience. This adjustability is great as it caters to personal preferences, accommodating those who prefer either a slight or more pronounced tilt.

A Few Handy Features

It comes with a control knob that’s pretty handy for adjusting things like volume, play/pause settings, switching tracks, and even the keyboard backlight brightness. Right now, I’m mainly using it to manage the volume. The knob itself is sturdy and doesn’t feel cheaply made.

There’s also a neat little dongle socket on the right side of the keyboard, which is super convenient for storing the dongle safely. This means you don’t have to worry about losing it when you’re on the move. And let’s be honest, haven’t we all lost far too many dongles already?

Besides that, the keyboard features a new free-mod hot-swappable socket that works with almost all types of switches, whether they’re 3 or 5 pins.

Any Drawbacks?

Initially, I couldn’t spot any significant problems. My main concern would be the built-in battery, and from what I can tell, it isn’t user-replaceable. If the battery starts to die out and the device becomes hard to use, I might just give Redragon a shout to see if they can hook me up with a battery replacement. I’m cool with them charging a little for it. Otherwise, I could continue using the device with its wired option. Only time will tell how the battery holds up before I feel the need to upgrade to a new keyboard.

Another minor inconvenience is the limited options for contacting Redragon’s customer support. They only offer support via email—I couldn’t find a phone number or a live chat option. This was a bit frustrating when I needed clarity on my first order. However, they were quite responsive and tended to reply on the same day, which was reassuring.

Oh, and there’s a small flaw that I noticed on the Caps Lock button. It’s not a big deal, but I just wanted to point it out.

Final Thoughts

This keyboard is a fantastic find that has exceeded my expectations! What initially grabbed my attention was its sleek 65% design, ultra-quiet operation, and versatile 3-mode options. I’ve never really used the numpad much, so this specific model is perfect for my needs.

If you, like me, prefer a cleaner, more organized desktop without a mess of cables and more space for other accessories, then this keyboard could be just what you’re looking for. Given its quality, features, and price, it’s an absolute steal!
